Selling Stuff On The Internet.

Extra cash can be earned easily off of things you have around the house. Every time you open that desk drawer you probably face something you once used daily and now no longer do. Perhaps you bought something for the novelty of it and then that novelty wore off. Whatever the case, you can most likely sell it on the internet to someone else who wants it. One man's junk is another man's treasure, after all. There are multiple ways you can sell all that extra junk off and make money.

Ebay.com - eBay is the most prominent venue for selling items on the internet. It's where you go to find even the most impossible of items. This website is the best way to reach a broad spectrum of buyers.

Pros: Auction-style means you can price the starting price where you want and if multiple people find it valuable, they can battle it out for the winning bid. BuyItNow pricing lets you set a defined price if you feel you just want to sell your item now. You can receive payments instantly (with PayPal) and you're not obligated to ship your item before payment is received. The user interface is fairly simple to use and listing items is only a few easy steps. Currently they also offer free listing price on your first five items, every 30-days.

Cons: You are solely responsible for shipping your item once you receive payment, including postage and packaging. Insertion fees and closing fees (as well as Paypal fees) are a minor nuisance but can be a total turn-off for some, especially if an item doesn't sell.

Amazon.com - Amazon is similar to eBay in that it reaches a broad spectrum.

Pros: Selling is generally very easy. You find the item you want to sell, fill out their online form, and hit enter. Well not quite that simple but that is the jist of it. It's not auction format which may be a pro if you dislike auctions. Amazon credits you for the shipping.

Cons: Closing fees, but at least there isn't a posting fee.

Gazelle.com - Gazelle is a fantastic site for selling your old gadgets you don't use anymore. In this newfangled era of computers and portable gaming systems, who doesn't have some of this advanced technology laying around unused?

Pros: Gazelle pays for shipping and provides an address label. All you need is a box. The best part is, whatever can't be resold is recycled to keep the Earth Green. Payment is fairly fast via PayPal, within a week of your items being received by them.

Cons: Part of their pricing system is based off of if they can resell it. This means many older gadgets like the original Gameboy or Sega Genesis will be accepted but you won't get paid for them. At least they can still be recycled.

Bookscouter.com - If you have books just sitting on your bookshelf and you haven't touched them in a really long time, this website can help. What they do, is helps you compare different used book buying sites like Powell's, Cash4Books, Collegebooksdirect, and the list goes on, just by typing in the ISBN of your book on their site. Who knew there were so many web sites to sell used books to?

Pros: Compare many different web sites to get the best price for your used book. They even let you know if they pay via PayPal or check, if they pay for shipping, and if they provide an address label (for shipping). They even have a user feedback system to let you know what others thought of that web site's service. Generally if it has one-star rating, you might want to think twice.

Cons: Bookscouter does work at a slightly slow pace but it is much faster than going to each individual site and comparing prices by yourself!

Craigslist.com - Craigslist is a site that acts like an online classifieds section. This is listed last because it mostly serves for local sales.

Pros: Free listing. If you only want to sell locally this helps immensely in getting the ad out there.

Cons: Scammers and identity thieves may be lurking around. Be careful when selling on Craigslist and ensure you won't be scammed.

FINAL CONCLUSION:
DO YOUR RESEARCH Before Selling. Look at Costs, Benefits, and the Draw backs. There's a Few sites out there that can sell things for you for very Little.
